S02E17: The Word She Kept Hearing

Ashley is thirty-five, standing at a baby shower full of pastel balloons, tiny onesies, and other people's certainty, when one relative's question lands like a paper cut. Are you seeing anyone? Still? That single word has followed her for years, showing up in her mother's voice, her coworker's voice, her own voice in the mirror. Still single. Still renting. Still not where she thought she'd be. This episode follows one ordinary, overdressed Saturday: the shower, a box from the attic, a folder covered in silver stars, and the small, unglamorous act of writing a letter to the girl she used to be. Not to fix anything. Just to answer. Afterward, Ashley joins me to talk about what it's like to hear a single word turn into a verdict, and what changed when she finally stopped letting it.
